It is not only moving parts that fail sometimes. Non-moving machinery parts such as casings may experience failures too, for example through catastrophic impact forces or if excessive stresses, which they are not designed for, are exerted onto them. Misalignment, vibrations, or large cyclical loads are common causes too.
If a large machinery component such as for example an engine block or a turbine has casing cracked or ruptured, then a straight-forward replacement may not necessarily be the best course of action. Often, a replacement part is not available immediately but has to be specially manufactured, which takes time and which can be very costly. Furthermore, often a lot of dismantling and rigging work will be necessary too, meaning that the equipment concerned may be out of operation for months.
QuantiServ specializes in the repair of broken machinery components. Our technicians are often able to repair even very badly broken parts, either by welding or by metal-stitching. Welding is applicable to parts that are made of steel. Metal stitching can be used on a variety of materials, such as cast iron, cast steel and many non-ferrous metals.
